Sinus Lift
Istanbul
A sinus lift (sinus augmentation) is a surgical procedure that raises the floor of the maxillary sinus in the upper back jaw to create enough bone volume for dental implants. It makes implant treatment possible when bone height is insufficient.
What Is a Sinus Lift and Who Needs It?
When back teeth are lost in the upper jaw, bone gradually resorbs and the maxillary sinus expands downward, so there may not be enough bone height for an implant. A sinus lift gently raises the sinus membrane and places a bone graft in the created space to restore this volume.
There are two main techniques: the open (lateral window) approach for significant bone deficiency, and the closed (crestal/osteotome) approach when only limited lift is needed. Planning is done with 3D imaging (CBCT).
- Enough bone volume for an implant
- Open and closed technique options
- Precise, safe planning with CBCT
- Same session as the implant in suitable cases
Process, Healing, With Implant or Before, Why Istanbul?
The process covers CBCT and assessment, local anaesthesia (sedation if needed), raising the membrane and graft placement. If bone height is sufficient the implant can be placed in the same session; if not, a few months are usually allowed for graft maturation before the implant is placed.
The procedure is routine and predictable; with correct planning the success rate is high. Istanbul is chosen in dental tourism for its CBCT and surgical setup, experienced clinicians and competitive pricing.
