Cosmetic Consultation: What Happens at the First Visit — Istanbul
A consultation is not where the decision to operate is made — it is where that decision becomes possible. The output of a good consultation is not a price quote but a clear picture: which procedure would address what in your case, what it would not address, and how the process would work. This page explains what happens at the appointment and how to prepare.
What makes a consultation a good one
The simplest test of a consultation's quality is this: were you also told what should not be done? A meeting where every request is met with yes is a sales meeting. In a good consultation you hear which of your expectations can be met anatomically and which cannot, which procedure would be unnecessary for you, and sometimes "you don't need surgery at this stage". The second measure: were you asked questions? Planning built without understanding what you actually want can lead to an operation that is technically successful and wrong for you.
Who It Is For
The clinical situations most often behind a Cosmetic Surgery Consultation request:
Patients at the Decision Stage
Those considering a procedure but unsure which one is appropriate.
Those Seeking a Second Opinion
Patients who already have a plan from another centre and want an independent assessment.
Planning Multiple Procedures
Determining which operations can safely be combined in one session.
Dissatisfaction After Previous Surgery
Where the outcome of an earlier procedure needs assessing and revision options discussing.
Long-Term Planning
Patients not considering surgery now but wanting a road map for the future.
Patients Travelling From Abroad
Preliminary assessment by video consultation before booking travel.
How the Appointment Runs
Veneta Clinic plans the process in four stages:
Discussion and Understanding Your Goals (20-30 min)
You describe what you want in your own words. No plan is made until what is actually troubling you is fully understood. Your medical history, medications and smoking status are reviewed.
Examination and Measurement (15-20 min)
Physical examination of the relevant area, measurements and standardised photographs. Where useful, 3D simulation — which is a communication tool, not a promise.
Discussing the Options (15-20 min)
Which procedures are appropriate, what each would and would not achieve, the risks and the recovery process. Options that are not appropriate are also named.
A Written Plan and Price
The surgical plan and price are given in writing at the end. You are not asked to decide quickly — taking time to think is normal and expected.
How Veneta Clinic Approaches It
- Inappropriate Procedures Are Not Offered: "You don't need this" is a legitimate outcome of a consultation.
- A Written Plan and Price: A written document rather than a verbal estimate — with nothing added later.
- No Pressure to Decide: You are not asked to decide on the day, and no campaign deadline is applied.
- Sequencing of Multiple Procedures: Where more than one operation is considered, a safe order and session plan is produced.
- Online Preliminary Consultation: Video consultation for patients travelling from elsewhere.
- Confidentiality of Photographs and Records: Your photographs and records are never used anywhere without your permission.
