Laser Lipolysis Istanbul: Laser Fat Reduction — Nişantaşı

Laser lipolysis melts fat cells through a fine optical fibre passed beneath the skin. The liquefied fat is either aspirated through a very fine cannula or, in small volumes, absorbed by the body. Its real application is not large-volume work but small, defined areas — and the heat it generates beneath the skin also contributes to collagen contraction.

Does laser lipolysis replace liposuction?

No, and the distinction should be clear. Laser lipolysis is designed for small, contained regions: under the chin, the upper posterior arm, the inner knee, the bra line. Used alone across a large area — the whole abdomen, hips, the full back — it both falls short and extends the procedure pointlessly; those cases belong to VASER or conventional liposuction. What it does offer is a real skin-tightening contribution from the thermal effect, which matters in small areas where elasticity is borderline. It is not a rival technique but a tool that works at a different scale.

Indications

The clinical situations most often behind a Laser Lipolysis request:

Submental Fat

Small-volume fat under the chin, where both melting and skin tightening are useful — the most appropriate indication.

Inner Knee

A small but visually troublesome deposit; too confined an area for conventional liposuction.

Upper Posterior Arm

In patients with limited fat and moderate skin elasticity who do not want an arm lift.

Bra-Line Fat

Banding across the upper back — small volume, where the skin-tightening effect is valuable.

Areas With Borderline Skin Elasticity

The thermal collagen contraction helps where laxity is mild.

Small Irregularities After Liposuction

Correcting limited differences in thickness left by a previous procedure.

The Surgical Process

Veneta Clinic plans the process in four stages:

01

Area and Volume Assessment

Fat thickness and skin elasticity are measured. If the volume is too great for laser lipolysis, VASER is recommended — asking a small instrument to do a large job spoils the result.

02

Procedure (45-90 minutes)

Local anaesthesia or light sedation. Through a millimetric entry point the optical fibre is advanced, fat is melted with controlled energy and, where needed, aspirated with a fine cannula.

03

The First Week

Compression dressing for one to two weeks. Bruising is limited and social recovery is usually two to four days. Some tenderness in the area for a few days is normal.

04

Skin Tightening

Fat reduction is immediate; the skin-tightening effect emerges over three to six months as collagen remodels.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is laser lipolysis non-surgical?
Not exactly. It is a minor surgical procedure because an optical fibre is placed beneath the skin — though it can be done under local anaesthesia and recovery is markedly shorter than after conventional liposuction.
Is it suitable for my whole abdomen?
Usually not. Across a large area laser lipolysis alone falls short and the procedure time becomes disproportionate. For the whole abdomen, VASER or conventional liposuction is the better choice.
Will my skin genuinely tighten?
Controlled heat triggers collagen contraction and gives a visible contribution where laxity is mild. Where there is significant sagging, the laser will not resolve it — a lifting procedure is required.
Is there a risk of burns?
Uncontrolled energy delivery can cause overheating beneath the skin and, rarely, a burn. The procedure should therefore be performed with a temperature-controlled device and by experienced hands.
Where does the melted fat go?
In small volumes it is cleared through the lymphatic system. In larger volumes it is aspirated with a fine cannula in the same session — leaving it can lead to irregularity.
Can the fat be used for transfer?
No. The laser's heat destroys cell viability, so this fat cannot be used as a graft. Where fat transfer is planned, VASER or conventional technique is preferred.
How many sessions does laser lipolysis need?
Usually a single session. If the area is broad or the fat layer thick, a second session may arise — but in that situation a different method should be considered from the start.
When does the reduction become visible?
Fat reduction becomes apparent as swelling settles at three to four weeks; the skin-tightening effect emerges over three to six months as collagen remodels.
